The First Church in Weymouth

Honoring Jesus Christ,
Following the Congregational Way,
Since we first Gathered in 1623

There are many ways to participate in church life at The First Church in Weymouth. In addition to our regular Sunday Worship Services at 10am, we offer various ministry opportunities where all are welcome. For more information, contact the church office or the specific contact person mentioned for each ministry or activity listed below.

Sunday School

Our Sunday School program is two-fold: we strive to provide children with both an understanding of the basics of their faith, as well as an appropriate sense of Worship. To that end, we value both the time the children spend in class as well as the time they spend in Worship with their families, friends, and their church community. We have a children's sermon on the 2nd & 3rd Sundays of the month after which the children proceed to their Sunday School lesson. On the 1st & 4th Sundays of the month children remain in the sanctuary for the Sunday Worship Service with their families. (On those Sundays, be sure to ask for a "goodie bag" with items to help little ones follow along and be a part of the Worship.)  All children are welcome! Please contact Lisa Snow, our Superintendent of Sunday School, for registration information and any questions you may have.

Choir & Music

Our choir sings at our regular Sunday Worship Services as well as on special occasions of Worship. We're always happy to welcome new choir members - especially young adults high school age and up! You don't have to have a trained voice nor do you need to be able to read music.  You only need a desire to sing God's praise and a willingness to have a lot of fun! The commitment is minimal. We rehearse some Saturday mornings (see the calendar for specific dates) and before services on Sunday, both at 9:00am. For more information contact our Music Director Jane C. Cleary at 781-331-2680 or contact the church office. Please consider joining us!

Bible Study

Have you ever felt like the Bible was just too confusing for you? Or are you familiar with Scripture and looking to learn more?  We want to help!  Bible Study meets on the 1st Monday of the month at 7pm. We focus on a new topic each session, with opportunity for reflection, discussion, and prayer. Everyone is welcome to attend any or all sessions! For more info contact Pastor TC.

Father Bill's Place

On the second Monday of each month, The First Church in Weymouth serves dinner at Father Bill's Place in Quincy.  This is a tremendous opportunity to put the good news of the Gospel in action and help those less fortunate than we are. Whether you can help out once in a while or every month, we'd love to have you!

Youth Group & Confirmation Prep

Although these are two separate groups, they go hand in hand. Our younger church members share Christian Fellowship in the informal, fun setting of Youth Group and learn more about their Christian faith in Confirmation Prep.  Gene Hunt is the contact person for Youth Group, and activities will be found in the weekly bulletins and on our website's calendar. Pastor TC leads and is the contact person for Confirmation Prep which meets Sundays after Worship (see the website's calendar page for dates). Confirmation Prep is a one year program open to students beginning 9th grade or later.

Koffee Kitchen

Koffee Kitchen meets the first Thursday of the month 10-11:30am. People have a chance to enjoy a leisurely cup of coffee, meet with the pastor informally, and talk about whatever comes up - whether church related or not!  Coffee and snacks are provided and you are welcome to bring something to share if you like. Bringing your own coffee mug is appreciated too. Stay the full 90 minutes, or stay a short while, but know that you are welcome!

Church Events

At The First Church in Weymouth, we love to have a good time!  We have several church functions throughout the year (dinners, fairs, sales, drives, etc) that are organized by our various church committees. Each committee has responsibility for a different aspect of church life and will announce the different activities as they arise.  Information can be found on our website's calendar, in the weekly bulletin, the monthly Parish Post newsletter, and on our Facebook page.  You are more than welcome to join in the planning and organizing of these events, but especially to attend these events and enjoy some fun Christian Fellowship.
